Aidan Hutchinson Posts First Video of Rehab Since Injury

Aidan Hutchinson posted the first video of his recovery from a broken leg. Hutchinson suffered the injury during the Detroit Lions’ blowout Week 6 win against the Dallas Cowboys.

It was a significant blow for the Lions and Hutchinson, who was putting together a Defensive Player of the Year season. Despite being out since early October, Hutchinson is among various categories’ highest-ranking defensive ends.

The Lions hope new signing Za’Darius Smith can hold down the fort with Hutchinson out. As the Lions aim to take care of business on the field, Hutchinson will be hard at work, aiming to return as soon as possible.

The third-year player and captain had remained silent on social media, barring a statement immediately after the injury. The Michigan-made product has been in the Lions’ building, working alongside linebacker Derrick Barnes.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said in October that Hutchinson is fiercely determined to return as soon as possible:

“And just knowing Hutch — he’s got one of those rare — he believes in it. He can will himself to find a way to get back. He’s one of those guys — the mind can heal the body, and he’ll find the next best thing and do whatever it takes to get back.”

On Saturday afternoon, Hutchinson posted a short clip of him training in a swimming pool. It was the first sign that the Plymouth native was on the road to recovery.

Of course, there is plenty of time between this and any on-field return. But the hunger to come back is clear. And this is not the first time Aidan Hutchinson has suffered a season-ending injury.

In 2020, an ankle fracture ended his campaign. He returned in 2021, dominating the BIG 10, sacking his way to second in the Heisman Trophy awards and powering him into the 2022 NFL Draft.
