Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell isn’t concerned about a social media post showing running back Jermar Jefferson in front of a whiteboard filled with offensive terminology. The image, shared by Jahmyr Gibbs, raised concerns about leaked code words that could give opponents an advantage.
In his weekly radio interview on 97.1 The Ticket, Dan Campbell dismissed the issue, saying, “Yeah, I don’t really give a crap. If we’re gonna lose because of code words, then we’re not good enough anyway. I think we’ll just post the whole freakin’ playbook and every code word we’ve got. It doesn’t matter. It’s not gonna hurt us.”
Campbell also pointed out that teams already have ample access to game strategies through film. “You can get everything you need in any avenue. It’s on tape, the TV copy. You guys at home get more than we do until after the game,” he explained.
While Campbell made it clear he doesn’t want locker room content shared publicly, he reiterated that he isn’t losing sleep over the leaked image. “I’m not losing sleep over that,” he said, focusing on execution rather than secrecy.
For Campbell, the outcome of the game will come down to how the team performs on the field—not the exposure of play-calling terminology. Afterall, they have bigger fish to fry, like getting the new guys up to speed, and combating the rabid injury bug.
