David Montgomery believes the sky is the limit for the Detroit Lions this season.
Montgomery spoke after the Lions’ crushing 52-14 win over the Tennessee Titans. Montgomery enjoyed an excellent day, rushing and throwing for touchdowns.
The former Chicago Bear threw a tight spiral over two defenders to find Sam LaPorta in the end zone. It was Montgomery’s first career touchdown pass and another creative trick play from the Lions’ offense.

On the pass, the star running back was in a typical David Montgomery mood:
“The play design came last year. We had been working on it for a while. I played quarterback at high school, so don’t forget that. It was a good pitch from Jared, Sam did what Sam did, and I found him.”
Montgomery is confident going forward for the rest of the season.
“I guess this shows what we’re capable of doing. But I believe we are capable of doing more. The sky is the limit for us, and we are ready for what’s next.”
And Montgomery was full of praise for offensive coordinator Ben Johnson:
“He’s a perfectionist. I haven’t seen the way he thinks and draws it up before. It’s something new for me coming here. Knowing how articulate he is, we have no choice but to execute.”
