Jared Goff helped guide the Detroit Lions to a critical 24-14 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Goff played a ruthlessly incisive, efficient game of football in difficult conditions. Torrential rain and high gusts made passing highly challenging.
Many Packers fans and commentators felt that Goff would struggle with the elements. The 30-year-old quarterback silenced those feelings. Goff completed 18 of 22 passes, throwing one touchdown, posting a QBR of 88.9 and a passer rating of 109.3.
Goff played accurately and decisively. Per Next Gen Stats, Goff’s Completion Over Expected was a Week 9 high of 16.7%. Furthermore, the former LA Ram was a perfect 10/10 on under-center play-action.
Goff was excellent in the miserable conditions. He looked like the quarterback, who was more used to adverse weather. His best throw came on Detroit’s opening drive when he found Amon Ra St. Brown on a corner route in the endzone on fourth down. It was a perfect back-shoulder throw.

Goff’s performance was such that the Lions awarded him their Player of The Game Award. The familiar chants of ‘JA-RED GOFF’ echoed around Lambeau Field at the end of the game. And rightly so, Goff is making history right now.
Goff Is in His Prime
Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters earlier last week that he felt Jared Goff was now in his prime. Right now, Goff and the Lions’ offense are in red-hot form. Here are some of the facts:
- The only player in NFL history to produce six-straight games with a completion rate of 72.0%+, a passer rating of 105.0+ and a TD pass
- Since Week 3, Goff has led the Lions’ offense to 26 touchdowns, compared to 22 incompletions.
- Jared Goff is the first Detroit Lions quarterback to win three consecutive games at Lambeau Field.
Always underrated and underestimated by the national media and opposition fans, Jared Goff is writing his chapter on the history of the Lions.
