Detroit Lions Getting Healthier for San Francisco Trip

The Detroit Lions are beginning to get healthier for the most critical part of their NFL season.

The Lions trained on Friday, and veterans Graham Glasgow, Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Kalif Raymond were full participants. Terrion Arnold missed Thursday’s session due to illness but participated in a limited fashion on Friday.

It is more positive news for Detroit ahead of their return to Santa Clara and rematch with the San Francisco 49ers.

Kyle Shanahan’s team has more injury issues to solve before kick-off on Monday night.

San Francisco has already shut down future Hall of Famer Trent Williams’ season, and fellow linemen Spencer Burford, Colton McKivitz and Aaron Banks missed Friday’s session.

Dre Greenlaw and Kyle Juszczyk were non-participants, too.

    Lions Welcome Back Teddy Bridgewater

On Thursday, news broke that the Lions had re-signed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. The popular veteran has returned following a championship-winning season coaching at the high school level.

While the move may not move the needle on sports-talk radio shows, it makes logical sense. Bridgewater loves the locker room and coaches. The coaches and players love having Bridgewater around. And lastly, it provides a veteran presence and insurance policy for the Lions.

Understandably, Bridgewater’s teammates were happy with his return. Wide Receiver Jameson Williams told reporters the following:

“It’s big, shoutout to Teddy B. The locker room feels different with Teddy back. He’s a big part of our team and our culture.”

    Lions Roster News

In another bit of news, the Lions waived Linebacker Kwon Alexander. The former New Orleans Saint cleared waivers, and the Lions may add him to the practice squad.

And finally, defensive end Za’Darius Smith is two sacks away from a $250,000 incentive. He has two big games left to trigger that incentive. Hopefully, it will add some more fuel to the veteran’s game.
