The Detroit Lions, preparing to host the Jacksonville Jaguars in an inter-conference matchup in Week 11, posted their first injury report of the week following Wednesday’s walkthrough practice.
- TE – Sam LaPorta (shoulder) NP
- T- Taylor Decker (shoulder) LP
- LB – Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle) LP
- DT – Brodric Martin (knee) FP
- S – Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle) FP
- CB – Emmanuel Moseley (pertoral) FP
- DE – Za’Darius Smith (personal) FP
As earlier noted by Dan Campbell, everyone, with the exception of Sam LaPorta, is trending in the right direction, and the team is feeling good about Taylor Decker being available. Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu is preparing to see his first action of the season after injuring his Achilles during the preseason. It will be interesting to see how the Lions defensive rotations will play out, especially with the expected return of CB Emmanuel Moseley. Moseley has only played two snaps as a member of the Detroit Lions after missing basically the entire 2023 season and tearing his pec in August, forcing him to go on injured reserve before the beginning of the 2024 season.
Za’Darius Smith was technically on the injury report, as the Lions gave him last week off after acquiring him mid-week in a trade with the Cleveland Browns. This allowed him to benefit from what would have been his bye week, and he will be on the field for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.
Tight End Sam LaPorta will likely be held out of practice this week with a shoulder injury, as the Lions, being -13.5 favorites over the Jaguars, will likely not risk further aggravating the injury, as the team has their eyes on the postseason.
