Detroit Lions Tease Uniform Change Ahead of Sunday Night

If you did not already know, the Detroit Lions have a Sunday Night Football showdown against the Minnesota Vikings. But of course, you already knew that.

The sports world knows about this matchup. It’s game 272 for the NFC North, which will decide the winner of home-field playoff advantage, bragging rights, the bye week, and everything else.

The Lions had announced that they would wear their throwback uniforms for Week 18. But the enormity of this Sunday’s matchup has forced a change of plans.

Detroit Lions Look Set for a Blackout

On Tuesday night, the Detroit Lions’ social media channels teased the all-black ‘Motor City Muscle’ uniforms.

The Lions have worn their alternate all-black uniforms twice this season. They are 1-1, having defeated the Seattle Seahawks and losing to the Buffalo Bills.

Furthermore, the Lions have changed their header to an all-black header and profile picture, which suggests a blackout theme for Dan Campbell’s Lions.

It is arguably the biggest regular-season game in Ford Field history. Lions fans must bring ferocity and noise. LA Rams Head Coach Sean McVay said before the season that last season’s wildcard game at Ford Field was the loudest atmosphere he had ever experienced.

This Sunday must top that. If Lions fans can stage a blackout equivalent to Penn State’s whiteout, they will create a surreal backdrop for the season’s biggest game.
