Ford Field Hit Jet Engine Noise on Sunday Night

Detroit Lions fans had the Ford Field roof ready for take-off on Sunday night. During their Super Wildcard Weekend game against the LA Rams, the decibel level inside Ford Field hit 133.6 decibels. It was the loudest decibel level recorded in the stadium’s history.

Amongst all recorded stadiums, Ford Field ranks fourth overall. It was a febrile, fevered atmosphere as Detroit’s 30-year playoff drought ended. The din seemed to hit a fever pitch when Lions quarterback Jared Goff ran out of the tunnel. 133.6 decibels is equivalent to a jet engine taking off a runway.

Such was the noise; the Lions fans stole two timeouts away from the Rams. That proved critical in the late stages. Head coach Dan Campbell praised the fans after the game:

“That was arguably the best environment I’ve ever been in. That was absolutely electric, and I think what’s crazy is that I was coming down for pregame warmup, and you could just feel it; it was humming. The building was humming. And I swear you could feel the electricity in the tunnel where I was coming down, growing from there. Our fans showed up in a big way.”

Campbell doubled down on his praise at his Monday press conference:

“It was probably the best I’ve ever been a part of. I mean, for anybody that was there, you’ll never forget that. You will never, for the rest of your life, that will be something you’re talking about. That was special.”

However, Lions wide receiver had a clear message for the Lions fans that will fill the stadium this Sunday:
