Jameson Williams will not appeal suspension, out vs Titans

We finally have our answer about Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams’s reported two-game suspension. As reported by Jordan Schultz, the Lions receiver will not appeal his suspension and will miss Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans and the following game in Green Bay against the Packers.

On Monday night, it was announced that Williams would receive a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s PES policy. However, the suspension is still not technically official until today at 4:30 PM. Surrounded by uncertainty, especially with the delay in announcement it left many wondering if this would hold up, and what the cause truly may be- as standard PES/PED violations warrant a four-game suspension. Williams released a statement this afternoon through his agent accepting full responsibility, regardless of being surprised and not having a full understanding of the violation.

I don’t take vitamins or supplements and I am overly cautious about taking over-the-counter medicine. At no time have I ever taken something in an attempt to cheat or look for an unfair advantage. I understand that I am responsible for everything that goes into my body and I have to take accountability in this instance.

With the pending suspension, it designates that Williams will return in Week 10 for the Lions and Houston Texans Sunday Night Football matchup at NRG Stadium. Earlier in the week, Lions coach Dan Campbell told Rich Eisen that the team was prepared to play without Williams, that he had support from the coaching staff, and that there was no doubt that he would bounce back from this.

QB Jared Goff’s ability to spread the ball has made it a difficult task for any opposing defense to cover the amount of talent at the Lions skill positions. Tim Patrick, Kalif Raymond, and Allen Robinson are all expected to see more time in rotations over the next two weeks, with Patrick likely being the favored target for Goff out of the three.
