Amon-Ra St. Brown Reaffirms Belief In Dan Campbell’s Decisions

Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown has again confirmed that the Lions would never have rested anyone for their game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Lions took the field on Monday night, knowing that a win or loss would not have changed their Week 18 destiny. Many pundits and ex-players felt the Lions should have rested their key players.

The logic behind those feelings was understandable. Injuries have ravaged the Detroit Lions. The Lions could not have suffered any more injuries against the 49ers.

But Dan Campbell stuck with his instincts and principles; the Lions won and, fortunately, did not suffer any new injuries.

And Coach Campbell’s star pass-catcher was in total agreement with the decisions.

Amon-Ra St. Brown ‘Never an Idea of Us Sitting’

On his weekly St. Brown Bros podcast, the Wide Receiver explained the rationale behind the Lions’ starters taking the field.

“We were going to play all along. There was never an idea of us sitting. If the Packers had beaten the Vikings, our game would have been for the one seed. So this week, we prepared for that eventuality. But either way, we wanted to win. Sitting is not in Dan’s DNA, and it’s not in ours.”

Furthermore, St. Brown confirmed he went onto the field wanting retribution from last season’s NFC Championship game:

“When we walked out for pre-game warmup, damn bro, it felt like the NFC Championship game. Except it was Week 17. But, my brother, I had a nasty little taste in my mouth. Like I was fucking hot.”

The Lions’ mentality is to go full throttle all the time. The Lions wanted revenge, and they got it. Now, they face the Minnesota Vikings in a huge Week 18 showdown on Sunday Night Football.
